What Screenfin connects to
You choose a Jellyfin server and sign in to it directly. That server supplies your account, library, artwork, subtitles, and media. Playback goes directly from Jellyfin to your device; Screenfin does not host a media library. Your Jellyfin server's operator controls the data held there under that operator's own practices.
Watch parties use a Screenfin server paired with that Jellyfin server by its operator. The app sends your Jellyfin token to that server over its connection so it can verify your identity and ask Jellyfin which party titles your account may see. The server keeps the token only in a live session, not in its room file or logs. It can save room state, including title identifiers, playback position, settings, and participant names, so an active party survives a restart. Rooms are removed when ended or after their empty-room grace period; the operator controls storage, logs and backups. Screenfin's developer does not receive those sessions when you use someone else's server.
What stays on your device
The apps save your Jellyfin connection and sign-in, preferences, and caches on your device. iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets can also save media you choose to download from your Jellyfin server. The browser client keeps its Jellyfin sign-in and preferences in browser storage. Sign out to remove a saved sign-in; remove downloads in the app, or clear the app or browser's storage to remove local data. Your Jellyfin server may still keep playback history and account data; its operator can help with those records.
Other devices and services
If you choose AirPlay or Google Cast, your device sends the playback address, which can carry your Jellyfin access token, and related title information to the receiver you selected. The receiver then contacts your Jellyfin server for media. Apple and Google provide those platform features under their own privacy terms. Screenfin does not use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics in the apps.
This website and support
screenfin.app has no account form, advertising trackers, or analytics added by Screenfin. Its publisher does not retain access logs on the site's k3s host. Cloudflare Tunnel delivers the site and Cloudflare processes request and network data, which can include your IP address, to route and protect it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. If you email support, your message and address are used to answer you. You can ask for deletion of that correspondence, subject to any record that must be kept by law.
Purchases and policy changes
Where a Screenfin purchase is offered through an app store, the store processes the payment and provides transaction or entitlement status so the app can provide access. Screenfin does not receive your payment-card details. Material changes to these practices will be described in a revised policy with a new effective date.
